The Tilles Center proudly announces the return of New York-based Complexions
Contemporary Ballet for one night only on March 27 at 8 pm. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the internationally acclaimed dance company will present a captivating evening of dance, featuring For Crying Out Loud—paying tribute to the legendary Irish rock band U2.

Founded in 1994 by Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden, Complexions has redefined the dance world. Richardson, a visionary artist, made history as the first African American principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and even earned a Tony Award nomination for his role in the original Broadway cast of Fosse. Rhoden, an award-winning choreographer, has crafted over 80 works for Complexions and collaborated with leading dance companies worldwide.

The company continues to redefine dance under the leadership of co-founders Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. Complexions is once again blending the
world of rock and ballet, this time with the electrifying sounds of U2. The evening’s starts off with the first half of the performance showcasing a diverse mixed repertory program from Complexions’ rich 30-year history, featuring ballets such as This Time, With Feeling (2024), Deeply (2024), Ave Maria (1995), Gone (2000), and Mercy (2009). This eclectic mix of works highlights the versatility and innovation of Complexions’ artistic vision.

The second half of the show will feature For Crying Out Loud, a new work by Rhoden that debuted in 2023 at the Joyce Theater, set to acoustic renditions of U2’s greatest hits such as

This year’s performance includes six pieces choreographed by Rhoden, each showcasing the company’s unique blend of technical precision, emotional depth, and diverse cultural influences. This jaw-dropping performance/celebration is a night you won’t want to miss!
