Activities include crafts, games, story-theater and more!
Based on the books written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel, this whimsical musical follows two great friends—the cheerful, popular Frog and the curmudgeonly Toad—through four, fun-filled seasons, meeting new friends like Man Bird and Lady Bird; Father, Mother and Young Frog; Turtle; Squirrel and many more along the way. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe, all charm, A Year With Frog And Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures, weathering all seasons.
Tilles Center presents relaxed performances with modified sound and light levels, specially adapted pre-performance materials, and quiet lobby areas with sensory toys for patrons who wish to move around. These performances are “non-shushing” and provide a comfortable environment for individuals on the autism spectrum and those who may have limited movement, sensory and/or complex communication needs. Relaxed performances are open to all neurodivergent and neurotypical audiences and take place throughout the season as part of our Family Fun! series of performances.

History of Frog and Toad
The story of Frog and Toad is a timeless one, as it still is read to this day. The story that celebrates friendship was first published in 1970, and the first book, Frog and Toad Are Friends, quickly became a beloved classic. Its success led author Arnold Lobel to create three more books in the series, each continuing the heartwarming adventures of the characters. The popularity didn’t stop there- the books were so beloved that the series was formed into a musical!

The musical A Year With Frog and Toad first premiered in 2002, and made its Broadway debut in 2003. But, that didn’t stop its success; the show still runs today and is making its way to Tilles Center on Sunday, March 2!
